On Retirement/Consolidation

Thanks for being here guys. It's not that I don't want you around anymore, but we've been through a lot. Well over a thousand miles, and you've never let me down.

Speaking to New Balance: Remember when we took our first run, and why we did it?

Speaking to Air Zoom Bonderman Series:
Remember when I decided NOT to wear socks on an "easy day" five miler? The marks are still there on both of us!!

Speaking to Air Max (the youngin'):
You were there for the Pole!!

Good times.....Now, one of you will still be with me. No more hard stuff, I promise. For the other two...don't worry, you guys are going to be "taken care of".

Congratulations Crystal and Jason!!

I met these two through one of the churches I've been going to. Their testimony is one only God could write. From coming together on their own terms, to coming together with God in their lives...awesome.

Weekend Part Two

Project Olivia
This would be referring my cousin who I spent time with on Saturday afternoon. WOW...she wore me out!!! With nothing planned, we did it all...from sniffing flowers to a crazy game of air hockey (she beat me 30-29.... NOT HAPPY!!!!) She's the biggest little DQ (drama queen) I know, but she still loves hanging out in the garage, drivin' nails. I learned much more than I expected to in a "prepare the way" type of setting.

Where to start...

This weekend has been quite eventful... it's going to take me a few days to get it down. Today was Dusty's birthday, he's now three!! That's his newest toy in front of him, a squirrel...almost like the real thing. More pics from the weekend that was on the Flickr page, and more 'splainin' to do later....ciao, Bebe.

Where's Jojo?

Greetings kids!! This weekend was much needed. It's been awhile since I've gotten away, something that I enjoy doing. I spent some time in the upstate of Pennsylvania. Did some spottin', shootin' (NOT at the same time) and just well needed relaxin'. On the way up, took a hard left to the old school(PCT, Williamsport,PA). Check out more pics on the Flickr page.

Book Review

It's taken me four months to get through this one. The title and author speak for themselves. John Piper(link) is tough, but this one is easier than some of his others. From the forgiveness of our sins to understanding how we belong to Him, all fifty reasons that were chosen are well-backed with Scripture. Not quite sure what to read next...any suggestions?

S'gotta be the shoes

36:23
About a mile 'til the fields turn into trails....a sharp right puts into the woods...check your pace, keeping three steps ahead; stride:short, short....jump...which requires an ability to judge distance, fear of compound fractures brings my knees up still higher, use of my upper body to PULL me up the hill...down the other side and stop. Quiet enough to hear my heart beating through me....deafening; remembering why I do this...Did the out, and now the back:dodging what lies beneath the leaves....

How do your shoes make you feel?

Reflection

Isaiah 65:17-Behold, I will create news heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. (NIV)

I've been thinking about the past lately, the life that was Joe before I accepted Jesus. It just so happens that I flipped my Bible open to this verse...imagine that. I didn't know any better: I wasn't really all that bad; I did what most kids/teenage/twenty somethings do. I've come to a point where I'm tired of struggling with the past...and I'm letting it die, WITHOUT ME!!!
So many things present, so many more things future to find joy in through a life with Christ. So much joy, so much forgiveness, nothing to be done. It's there...just take it.

Concert Review

I went to see Evanescence last evening along with Chevelle and Finger Eleven. Overall, a very good show; cameras were not allowed(sniff sniff), so plenty of mental pictures were taken. I should have dressed up for this one.

Finger Eleven- my favourite out of them all...going in. I've seen these Canadians before, about ten years ago at the Silo...awesome show. Their stage presence was very well taken; slinging guitars and a drummer who's VERY animated...if you paid enough attention. Played some old stuff (very good) and some newer material..eh, not as good, too much like Nickelback, lyrically. They are a good band to see in a small place like the Silo; presence and sound gets lost in the cavernous Sovereign Center. Highlight was a much improved version of One Thing; I got new understanding of the song (most likely the ONLY song most kids know from them)

Chevelle-the band that I thought had the most recognizable stuff. Yeah, I like them...a new album came out today...and they really work hard...considering they are a three piece. New song Well Enough Alone sounds good. Much like their studio work....lots of bass and screaming (hard to do live every night)

Evanescence-
Why.... hello Ms. Amy Lee. Yeah, she can sing, and play the piano and that's really all I would've needed. But, in case you didn't know, she does have a band, and they compliment were very well. Lighting and stage setting was good, it was snowing at one point...great mood-setter. Encore was My Immortal...mmmm.
