On being disciplined

I can remember how it was to be a kid and how it was to have parents that said NO. I was just weasel enough to get around it most of the time...but I could never figure out why that were "hard on me". Going through the recent parenting series at NewSpring, I heard scripture
(Hebrews 12:11) directly related to how I was then feeling to now how I do feel. I praise God for having parents that hemmed me in.

7:33 am, 32 degrees

This morning felt great to get an early run...it's been a long time. I was well equipped with just enough to keep me on the cool side of warm. You may say....dude, you're crazy....and well, you may be right....but it's just a part of who I am. These are time when I worship God: running, or shooting hoops, or some other type of being active. It comes easy....thanks for the ability and motivation to do this...just being willing to do whatever it takes to spend time with Him.

Concert Review...The Police, Phillips Arena

Yeah...two in less than a week. I've been waiting to see the Police since I bought the tickets six months ago. Wow....what a show. From "Wrapped Around Your Finger", seeing Stewart Copeland switch from his drum kit to a elevated riser behind him equipped with xylophones, timpani, and numerous chimes and cymbals to "Roxanne" and every light turning red...well worth the wait. Of course, I can't go this far without mentioning Sting...man, I pray I'm able to look that good at his age(56). There were plenty of other notables that happened at the show, but some things are better left to the mysterious.

Concert review

Last night was Nickel Creek at the Handlebar. I've been a fan of bluegrass for about six years, and I was used to the traditional types of 'ol-timin' music. However, since there is such a category as contemporary bluegrass, the said group will be pegged therein. I've never gone to a show not knowing much about the artists, so this was a bit different. These guys truly understand what it is to be entertainers, with much banter between the group throughout the two hour show. Mixing songs of remorse for lost love and talking lighthouses, covers of the Jackson Five and Brittney Spears(yikes), and in the end some 'ol-timin' music....I was very impressed.

What day is it?

My week started on Saturday night...pulling an all-nighter on the job...continued on the graveyard shift rest of the week...until today. Well, what did you learn?
  • How to tear apart a mill and put it back together...
  • I was taken out of my routine for a purpose, and should embrace and not push back(thank you Jesus)
  • I'm blessed with a great group of friends who encourage and pray for me...and I'm so undeserving
  • To praise God for those moments that easily go unrecognized...i.e. the minutes and hours that I'm given during a day
  • I'd make a good vampire
