Travis

He's a friend who died a few months ago. Today it hit me harder than ever before. I wasn't real good friends with Travis, but I have a lot of memories of him when he was much younger.....the kid down the street. I love you buddy.

Sensing of Memories

Memories are closely tied to the senses. You can remember when you first heard, tasted, touched, saw or smelled fill-in-the-blank for the first time. For the past two months, it has seemed as though I'm not growing in my walk with Christ....more like I've been on cruise control. I've been reading Revelation and one of the main things that stuck out to me was Revelation 2:5- Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first (NIV).
Ouch...I can remember when I first heard about Jesus, the dude talking actually smiled when he spoke of Him....I can remember when I first tasted communion and was celebrating it with a purpose....I can remember when I first smelled the puke I was cleaning up as I was serving Him. Thank you Jesus for this continual life change.

Book Review

This is an uncomfortable post to write. I recently finished Sex and the Supremacy of Christ edited by John Piper and Justin Taylor. It took me over two months to read, and took me to places mentally and emotionally I never thought I could be reached. I know I've been forgiven forever....but bring up a subject such as sex outside of marriage, and I still get shaky, just being honest, I ain't perfect and Jesus ain't through with me yet. 'Tis worth reading.

Title

Congratulations to Barry Bonds for hitting HIS 756th home run last evening. Just for a few minutes, I'm going to drop my traditionalist viewpoint on baseball, to show how on top of the game this dude is. According to Retrosheet (God's gift to Joe) Barry has played over TWENTY seasons, has been a league MVP SEVEN times, has been Player of the Year THREE times, and has only been to one World Series and lost. (Yay, Angels!!) My asterisk looks too much like a star behind Barry's name.
